Nursery goals! When Ariel Kaye set out to design a nursery for her new baby boy, Van, she turned to Crate and Kids to bring her "under the sea" vision to life.
Calming tones, soft textures and whimsical touches make this coastal inspired haven a room the entire family can enjoy! Get inspired by this tranquil nursery.
Incorporate Texture and Warmth
For Ariel, texture and warmth are key components in a nursery. The Snooze Glider has a boucle fabric that adds a tactile and cozy punch to the room. Plus, the unique shape adds a sophisticated and elevated look to the nursery. "The glider is pretty special," says Ariel, "I've basically been living on it the past six weeks. It's so comfortable and supportive." Ariel also brought in Parachute’s soft, textural Wool Braided Rug to tie the space together. It’s plush and cushiony – great for getting down on the ground with the baby during tummy time. Playing with different fabrications allowed Ariel to create a room that is soft, livable and playful.
Say No to Clutter
Babies have a lot of stuff! Ariel prioritized eliminating clutter in the room to reduce stress and make it a space everyone can enjoy. In Van's room, she used bins and baskets to help organize toys, books, clothes and supplies. The Whale Storage Basket from Crate & Barrel provides a thoughtful place to store items and it fits with the under the sea theme perfectly!
